Yes, a HUD home is an amazing way to buy a home. 1st as you know the competition is controlled by not allowing investors to compete one on one with 1st time home buyers on insured properties. They must wait for a period of time prior to bidding. The next great thing is that HUD does a termite inspection, a home inspection, and an appraisal prior to ever listing a home. In cold areas like your they climatize the homes to make sure the pipes do not freeze, etc. You can also get the seller to pay up to 3% of the purchase price toward your closing costs and prepaids.
